Our Event Manager & Communications Lead, Kayla Brekken, is a native of Crookston, Minnesota, and a 2023 graduate of Crookston High School. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Communications at the University of Minnesota Crookston, planning to graduate in December 2026. Kayla joined the team in January 2026, bringing with her a background in ministry and community leadership. Before stepping into her current role, she served as an Administrative Assistant and Youth Group Coordinator at a local church in Crookston. During that time, she discovered a deep passion for serving others, mentoring individuals, and cultivating environments where people feel valued and welcome. Her experience in ministry sharpened her ability to lead with empathy, communicate with purpose, and thoughtfully plan events that foster connection and community. She is passionate about creating meaningful experiences—whether through large-scale events, member gatherings, or intentional one-on-one interactions. In July, Kayla will marry her fiancé, Caleb Severson, and looks forward to this exciting new season of life. Kayla’s office is in the hallway connecting the main entrance to the bar, so you’ll often find her working behind the scenes. She looks forward to connecting with members and helping create memorable and meaningful experiences.
